Will set up a different unofficial forum for this game soon.
SYDNEY, Australia – June 28, 2010 – Home Entertainment Suppliers Pty Ltd (HES) today announced the development and release date of Rugby League Live for PlayStation®3, and Xbox 360® due for release on September 2nd 2010.
“Rugby League Live brings all the hard hitting action and excitement of the greatest game of all to your lounge room”, said David Robles, Business Development Manager for HES. “The demand for a Rugby League game on Playstation®3 and Xbox 360® has been staggering. • Field and uniform degradation.
• Create your own players, teams and competitions.

To clarify the role of Sidhe in this
- Big Ant (based in Melbourne) are the developer of the title
- Sidhe were not involved in the development of this title, though we were aware it was in development from the outset
- Sidhe did provide some QA testing resource towards the backend of the project, though was not the primary testing resource
- Rugby League Live is not a port of Rugby League 3. It is a seperate title based on different technology.
- Some commentary, stadium, and motion capture/animation data from Sidhe RL titles was supplied to Big Ant to assist with development, but it is not clear how this may have been used in conjunction with new assets created by Big Ant in the final version.
As suggested previously, the Rugby League franchise has come to PS3/360, and HES continues to make significant investment into the franchise.
We can't comment or answer questions on the title directly, but hopefully footy fans will support it.

No mention of a Franchise mode or season mode, this could be very bare bones.
Just hope it plays good and is well balanced as well as stable online.

I think they used PhyreEngine as the graphics solution, but I am not certain of that (consider anything I say on the game unofficial).

Doesn't bother me at all. I can see why it would bother some, but even on a console like the 360, it's all about how fun the game is to me.
Will definitely be following this; looks interesting.

Hey mario, i know you can't speak officially or anything but under your impression did/will the game include some type of leaderboard for online?
Like the top 20 ect in the world based on wins/losses?
|
I hope not!.
It will only encourage quitters to quit more to get a better win/loss ratio.
If there is I hope there is some way they can give a loss to a quitter or connection that drops out within a certain time period in the game, maybe second half connection losses count as a loss no matter how it happens.
I just hope there is something, anything to help stop quitting as much as possible. The obvious thing to do will be to get a good bunch of friends gamertags or PSN ID's so you know your online friends will play fair at least.

No, it should just be connection lost = a loss.
I'd love to have a leaderboard, itd probably be the thing i want most in the whole game

And Playstation and Xbox should ban people who use network limiters, that slow the connection down at a certain spot.

Particularly I would like to know if they have re-done fends, sidesteps and shoulder charges as these could use a re-working.
That kickoff screenshot is definately the RL3 kickoff!
|
I won't mind if it's basically RL3 but expanded a bit more and with the addition of RL2s passing feature.
And I hope it has more options on attack and defense.

Man, Damn exciting alright! Finally a RL game on PS3!
I'm definitely going to put this on pre-order... Hope they use Rabs for commentary...
Pricey makes the cover again... They should use JT or GI...

I wasn't close to the testing so I don't know what leaderboards there are if any.

I don't know how much, if any, of what we provided ended up in the final product, and if any did I don't know how much it was reworked.
Just wanted to state that some assets were provided in case somebody did spot something similar and mistakenly assumed there was more to it than that.

Yeah, I'm wondering what the Live is meant to mean as well.
As for franchise I'm not fussed, I just want it to play well both online and offline.
I'm also wondering what new gameplay features they might have brought in to deepen the experience or if it is just the same old pass, kick and tackle gameplay but hopefully better yet.

If I were to choose between Franchise mode, or having that development time spent on gameplay, I'd definitely take the latter. Let's see how this turns out first.

Great to see people are being open minded about a new team working on the franchise.
I'll be keeping in touch with HES to stay abreast of new information and media releases.
