Default Broncos Vs Dragons *spoilers*

Eh was quite a boring game to say the least. We should definitely have gotten at least 2 or 3 penalties because Folau was clearly being blocked from the ball...Both teams did play pretty well in defence though.

Dragons have absoloutly nothing! The Roosters are going to hammer them next week.

It's happening again with the Dragons. Every side seems to have tweaked their attack and defense while the Dragons haven't changed a thing.

The Broncos were never really challenged in defense today.

Dragons are gone, if the Roosters destroy them next week I can actually see them taking the minor premiership.

Folau is irritating me more and more every week.

Earlier I did the NRL Ladder predictor on nrl.com and I ended up with 5 teams all in first place. I can't remember the the competition points, I think it was 34.

I don't know. First it's the AFL crap, then all the Origin drama, then this crap about him wanting to play for Tonga... he just looks like a smug tool on the field atm. I'm really growing to dislike him.

If he is carrying on because he can't get a free passage at the ball in league wait till he plays Aussie rules. The dragons players just aren't gonna disappear or let him have a free passage to the ball. The kick to Folau is so predictable it happens about 100 times a game. He shouldn't be allowed to play for Tonga either, why relax the rules and make a joke of the rules for a player who is leaving the game. Uate wasn't allowed to play for NSW this year because of the same rule.

Anyone who thinks Soward is the best kicker in the NRL need only watch this game. I was at the game with my old man (who is a dragons supporter) and even he was blowing up how crap his kicking game was. Never kicked into space, and when it went straight to a man he got ample time to return the ball as the chase was ordinary. Then when he did a chip that half worked he began to chip at the end of every set. Very very ordinary stuff.

I actually really enjoyed watching the game though. Although being there helps I guess. We were up top and we were allowed to take the lift since my mrs is very pregnant, while we were waiting for the elevator down after the game it opened up and who should be inside with Sterlo? None other than Brian Smith doing a bit of sneaky homework for next week! He looked pretty damn happy too.

Soward's kicking game was no doubt ordinary today. But a lot of blame must go to their forwards. Doesn't matter what halves you have, if you forwards aren't performing you're always going to have a bad day with the boot.

Without Soward, the Dragons would've lost a lot more convincingly today.

As I understand it, the International Rules say that you can only play for one country in any 2-year period. Very simple.

Plan B: Let him play for Tonga then reschedule the game for a Tuesday night in Dubbo!

Gaz did nothing. He's either still finding his feet back in league or he's a shadow of his former self. Everyone who keeps naming him in their rep sides are obviously doing it based on his name cause he is not going the best

So because his forwards weren't up to par he had to kick straight to Hoffman all day long?

You are right, people are selecting on his name. But then again why would you not, Gaz always seems to play well at rep level. SoO is about players who are proven in the arena - lockyer, Jt, bird, slater, thaiday - Gaz is no different.

In the past he has. I'm saying he may not be that player anymore. But it's only been a month, he could easily get back to it. At this stage he's not too threatening though, and I don't believe should or would be in rep contention on current form.

Seems like the papers are doing their job in making him look like a bad guy and getting people against him.

Meh, that game was atrociously boring.

But it's better to be losing games now than in 3 or 4 weeks.

Last year that Dragons were winning now and everyone (people on here even) were going on and on about how they were peaking too early. Now they lose a couple in a row and their finals are over.

I expect a better performance next week when they finally get one of their starting front rowers back. And then the run into the finals to begin..

Sorry WannabePopper, but I just feel the Dragons lack the creative flair to win the big games anymore.

I said earlier in the year they go completely mad when they're playing from behind. They may have been losing by 4 for most of the game yesterday, but it literally looked as if they thought they were behind by 16.

This time next week we'll be saying how the Dragons are chokers again after the Roosters hammer them.

They did this last year (a few rounds later if memory serves) and didn't really recover. Only won the last normal round against the eels before failing to them the following week, then the next week the dream was over.

Dragons have won from behind this year a few times. They're also missing their entire starting front row (Weyman, Fein and Hunt), and while the fill ins have done a gret job, it's starting to show.

Last year, they won 8 in a row before falling 3 in a row. And everyone (media, fans, experts) all said they peaked too early. This year, they lose 2 in a row, both really close ones, and everyone rights off their finals. Keeping in mind, anyone who wants to win the GF already needs to win 4 in a row, which is pretty remarkable in today's game, I'll just be happy if they start winning from round 23 to get that roll on. It's easy to write off a team that loses a couple at this time of the year.

I guarantee, everyone who is tipping the Roosters to be the premiers now after 5 in a row, if they lose next week, the very same people will be writing them off. It's not 1 or 2 games that make an entire season. That's the way media sell newspapers, and that's how logn fan's memories are. Everyone seems to really only be able to remember the current round.

So, as of right now, I'm not worried and I am sure Wayne Bennett is not that worried (judging by his comments). We've got Weyman coming back next week, and Fein should be back either the following week or the next, we were missing Dean Young yesterday, and he should also be back next week or the week after.

everyone ive spoken to said it was a really boring game....
i certaintly didnt think so, i dont mind seeing low scoring games here and there, the defence was physical and desperate it was awesome to watch.

hope the roosters beat the dragons next week, pretty sure they would move onto the same competition points as them if they do.

It was "boring" because of the lack of creativity. Some of the defense was brutal (I think it was Parker on Scott, one of the hardest tackles I've ever seen, not the biggest, but definitely the hardest), but it was totally simple from both sides.

1 out hit ups, get to the kick. No flair, no excitement, a whole bunch of mini breaks that all led to nothing.

If anything its upsetting the loss of Folau to our game, and to the Broncos. Sure he's been made to look a douche in the media, but as someone else mentioned, thats whats intended.

He is playing his best footy he ever has this year, and rather than just picking up the crumbs and being an excellent finisher like recent seasons, he's actually stamped himself as one of the best outside backs in the comp. He's been so damaging in the centres this year, a true gamebreaker.

While we lose him next year, I don't think thats the last we'll see of Israel Folau in rugby league.

He only makes a few millions if his conversion is succesful and the team makes money though yeah?

Isn't he (and Karmichael) on minimum wage contracts with KPIs for crowd attendances, and advertising fees and what not? The AFL salary cap is even more complex than the NRL one.
