I think the most annoying part on behalf of the UK users, and I speak for all of us. The fact that the statement said the 2nd September, but for us we can't pre-order it anywhere.
I doubt any of the companies over here that sell games, actually know that it is coming out. Which ... is rather shambolic. As I said the other day, at least Mario and Sidhe keep us updated regularly.

That gets me, you guys can't even go into your stores and put money down that you want to spend on it?!. That is ridiculous. Should have had that sorted by now.

It will be ok if the gameplay is good...
I'm really not interested in the graphics for this first effort.
I hope the gameplay is fun and enjoyable. Like it was with ARL 95 way back when...
The graphics in that game were very ordinary but the commentary and gameplay - passing, kicking and tackling were excellent...
Here's hoping its not like that rubbish RL2. Well I played it on PC and it was atrocious.

I remmeber when RL2 came out about 30 of us were lined up outsdie the door and had to roll under the door when it opened and run to get the games.. I got the last PS2 one that day in epic morning, will NEVER do that again just to buy a game Id rather pay the extra cash then wake up early to run for a game

You can play both single player and online with multiple players as well as play a full season.

I love your thinking mate, however i dont think we are going to get the "complete" game we are all hoping for. Ill be happy to be proven wrong and im actually happy we are getting a NRL game on next gen, its been to long and im over subbing other sports to try and get the same satisfaction.
In regards to where you are going, you have a valid point and custom plays is 100% possible. Fifa 10 displays this with its custom set peice tool. For those who havent seen or played it, it gives you free reign on players lines during dead ball situations in DIFFERENT sections of the pitch. You can save upto 4 set peices for each section of the pitch. You create these custom set peices in the main menu and my way of thinking is that this could some way be intergrated into Rugby League. After all, you would control the passing so essentially you would only need to edit the lines the players are running.
For me, the graphics that have been released thus far look ok...they still have a few things to fix (jerseys and size of the ball). The thing that scares me is that this game is due out in less then a month and HES know there has been a huge demand for it, yet no forums, no trailers, nothing but a few screenshots. Either they had to cut there marketing department in order to make this game or they are going to drop a bombshell.
We will soon see i guess, im hoping Franchise mode is there though, im a die hard sports video gamer and i find the best part of them is season mode. Im guessing Origin will be a seperate mode but would be cool if it was in Franchise mode and you get to select your team depending where your alligence lies (something that could be asked when starting Franchise mode)
Aside from the crowd i thought the detail in the Stadiums is pretty cool, the fact the you can see the "Quick Beers" at Suncorp was cool. Maybe not for others but i liked it. Anyways not long now, cant wait. Anyone gonna be editing your teams in terms of roster. If so post it.

There is no franchise mode, only Season or Competition mode.
The achievement list pretty much confirms this.

Ask HES or Big Ant for info Sidhe didn't make the game.
They released a trailer if you've been under a rock.

Hey
The shoulder tackle was one of the first things noted in the trailer discussion thread, which is here:

Absolutely.
Actually, I already know they're going to sort something out for you, so just be patient and good things will come to those who wait

So people can try the game before they buy it, it doesn't necessarily need to be a day 1 purchase for all.
Especially when budget and deadlines play a factor for the devs post release demo's may be the only option.
